3 Things That You Can Do NOW To Generate More Website Sales

Posted by

Having invested time, effort and money in creating and maintaining your website, clearly you want to generate as much money from it as possible.  Here are three great ideas that you can put into action to start getting better returns from your online presence.

Create a blog

According to a number of studies, websites that incorporate a blog get far better marketing results, and for a number of very good reasons.

  • A professional blog provides a superb platform for you to demonstrate your expertise in your field – and expert status is worth its weight in gold!
  • The ability for readers to leave comments on your blog provides an opportunity to build relationships which can later translate into sales.
  • Everybody likes to get something for free and in this age of information, good quality free information which really provides value will have site visitors hooked, make them return time and again to your site and make them far more likely to buy.
  • Backlinks to your site are incredibly valuable as they act as free recommendations.  Best of all though, they cost you nothing.  Again, by providing high quality, relevant information, you can achieve greater numbers of backlinks which will be sniffed out by the search engine spiders, so raising your search engine ranking and your profile.
  • Visitors who want to return to your site will often create bookmarks or indexed links to your site and the more of these there are, again the more visible you will be to the search engine spiders.

Give your readers a compelling reason to take action

Many of the people who search for the type of services that you are offering will just be doing preliminary research and so yours isn’t the only site that they looking at.  If you want to keep them from straying too far and encourage them to buy now, then you’re going to have to give them a compelling incentive to do so.  Special offers or free consultations which have to be taken up within a specific timescale can both be great ways to make them stop reading and pick up the phone or click on that ‘contact’ button.

Be mindful of the search engine spiders

There’s no denying that if you can’t be found online, you aren’t going to generate much business online, and so keywords and phrases need to be a consideration for your site to appear in the search engine listings.  There is such a thing as going overboard though, and I’m sure we’re all familiar with those sites which are so stuffed with keywords that they make the writer look like he has the vocabulary of a four year-old and an IQ to match his shoe size!

When visitors find their way to your site, your aim should be to give them a quality experience, and that means well-written, relevant material.   While I would never recommend that you get too hung up on keywords, do make sure that they are contained within the title and at the beginning and end of each page though in order for the search engines to find them.

Another thing that you can do is research your keywords before you even put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) so that you know just which ones Internet users are typing in.  You can do this quickly and easily by going to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and entering the keyword or phrase that you have in mind.  What will come up are the local and global search volumes, not just for the words that you have entered, but also for a whole range of other similar keywords and phrases, so that you can craft your page around precisely what people are searching for.
